This is a long overdue post following up my first local coffee shop recommendations. Life has been a little crazy the last few months with moving, a new puppy and getting engaged, but I'll write a post about all of that soon enough. I have visited several coffee shops over the last several months. In fact, some of the shops on this list I have visited more than once in that time. If you read my previous post about local coffee shops then you saw I reviewed Main Street Coffee, Whistle Stop Coffee, Hammerhand Coffee, and Gusto Coffee. I have four more local coffee shops around the Kansas City Metro for you to check out.

Post Coffee Shop — Lee's Summit

Post Coffee offers a nice selection of drinks. While it is your standard coffee shop, it has a bright interior and inviting atmosphere. The particular day we decided to go it was crowded and the music playing in the background made it hard to carry on conversation. I often felt like I was having to yell for my fiance to hear me. This one gets a 6/10, mostly marked down based on the atmosphere. I'd be willing to give it another try to see if the atmosphere is different when it's less crowded. Quay Coffee — River Market

We stopped in Quay for the first time in mid-November during our engagement photo shoot. Since trying new coffee shops is one of our favorite dates together I knew I wanted to somehow incorporate coffee into our engagement shoot. Our photographer, Meredith Graves Photography (she's amazing btw and you should totally check out her work), suggested Quay since we were planning to take photos in River Market. We did not stay in the shop long, but it was a fun atmosphere. In fact, an old vault inside sparked conversation about the vault/gun safe my fiance would like to build in our home someday. Thou Mayest recently acquired Quay Coffee. Our lattes were delicious (again with our basic orders of vanilla lattes) and the cups made for fun props during our photo shoot, especially once I added a note to the sleeves. Until we have a chance to go back and enjoy drinking coffee in the shop itself: 8/10. They're @quaycoffee on Insta.

Blip Roasters — West Bottoms

They have such a cute little space in the West Bottoms. It's down the street from Blade and Timber. We wandered in a few months ago when we were exploring the West Bottoms for the first time. It's always fun to try a place that roasts their own coffee beans too instead of using beans from one of the bigger roasters in KC. Per usual, I ordered a vanilla latte with almond milk. I know it's a basic order, but it's something that is easy to get at any coffee shop. The building itself has a lot of character and it was a quiet, laidback atmosphere. We spent close to an hour enjoying our coffees and conversation in the back of the store. They also have the cutest gifts and apparel available for purchase. They recently opened a new cafe at 30th and Troost. We've been meaning to go back and try them again, but haven't made it in just yet. Still I think for overall vibe, atmosphere and coffee: 10/10. Scout Coffee — Blue Springs

Now that we moved to Blue Springs this is more of a local spot for us than Main Street Coffee in Independence. If I remember correctly, they serve Oddly Correct coffee. We got our usual orders and enjoyed sitting on the porch talking while a storm rolled in. This shop has a little bit of a different atmosphere in that it's located inside an old house instead of a typical storefront. It makes for a quaint, intimate vibe that we enjoyed. The atmosphere is great, but it's not our favorite coffee roast: 8/10. You can find them @scoutcoffeekc on Instagram.
